committee

Welcome to the 2007 sailing season. This is my first year as commodore and I look forward to the challenge of continuing the good work carried out by past commodores and their committees to develop the club to its present strong position.

This years sailing, will I am sure, continue to be competitive and well supported as I year with cats fighting against each other and the fast monohulls. To keep up with the sailing crews we have invested in a nearly new guard boat (well it's nearly new compared to the old Avon) which will help manage the racing and support the
club's training programmes.

The youth sailing programme will again begin in May and is planned to run until
mid September. Both Will Stafford and Josh Mack have represented the club over the Winter months training with the North Wales regional squads and will soon become a challenge to the adult sailors - certainly they are an inspiration in braving the cold weather.

Mark Stafford will join the youth coaching programme this year bringing with him a great deal of experience in coaching the Optimist class. He is also very keen to chase in new lottery funding to extend our fleet with the purchase of entry level 'Oppies' to allow the youngest of sailors to get out on the water experiencing the exhilaration of single handed sailing.

We now have planning permission to build a full length balcony on the front of
the building to encourage use of the great facilities, and what better place could there be to sit and watch the sun going down. We now need to work hard to raise the funds to build the thing! I'm sure we'll create some imaginative social events to get things going.

Easter will bring the start of the sailing season which runs until November for the brave but club social events run throughout the year with a fantastic Big Blue Open day in August and the Christmas dinner dance and awards ceremony rounding out a great year.

Please enjoy reading through this year yearbook and the contributions from the committee .If your not already a member and would love to join a friendly club with some of the best sailing waters in Wales please talk to one of the committee members.

I look forward to seeing you all soon, both in the club and best out on the water,

Phil
