In support of this years’ Royal Yachting Association’s (RYA) national “Push the Boat Out” event (which was a huge success in 2012 as part of the Olympic and Paralympic celebrations), Penmaenmawr Sailing Club held a day of water-based fun for all the family on Saturday the 18th of May 2013, and invited non sailors and their families to enjoy supervised sailing and fun on the water, and to enjoy the facilities of the Club.
The event was officially opened by the Mayor of Penmaenmawr Cllr Callum Mackay who fired the cannon at 11am.
Club Commodore Gerhard Weis said “We enjoyed a wonderful day of sailing and fun. We had around a hundred people in attendance throughout the day, including many past and present members from as far as Cheshire. Although the weather turned rough during the day, we were still able to get eight different boats out and a banana boat which was truly enjoyed by all”.
Junior Liaison Officer Alice Frobisher said “There was a raffle and refreshments provided all day to help raise funds for our Junior Section which now meets on Tuesday evenings from 7.00pm throughout the summer and offers the RYA syllabus all manner of qualified sailing coaching . We ended the day with a themed “Push the Boat out Calypso Cocktail and barbecue evening get together”.
