During the Tally race, the safety boat crew noticed an unusual object. After making a detour to investigate, a semi submerged Jet Ski was found. There was no sign of the rider, so Gerry Frobisher, the club safety boat officer radioed back to the club Race Officer to raise the alarm.
The Coastguard and RNLI were immediately notified and our safety boat crew and other jet skis started an immediate search and rescue operation. After approximately 20 minutes a man was found and rescued. He was suffering from exhaustion and severe hypothermia. First aid was given at the scene by sailing club members and paramedics attended promptly.
He was transferred to hospital. The sailing club wish to extend our thoughts and best wishes to him and his family and we hope he will have a speedy recovery.
