Gerry Frobisher’s RNLI day report: Penmaenmawr Sailing Club held a special Open Race on Sunday the 2nd of September 2012 to raise funds for the RNLI. The race was organised for the second year from an idea of Tom Warburton, a Junior Member of the Club, as part of his Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Representatives of the RNLI Fundraising Group, Sylvia Howard and Julie Pullen, manned a stall during the day, raising £138.00, and together with race entry fees of £90.00 which were donated to the Charity by the Club Vice-President and Race Officer Bernard Carter, the event raised a total of £228.00 for the RNLI.
Club Commodore Gerry Frobisher said “I would like to thank everyone who took part in the race, as well as the shore volunteers and the helpers at the club house. We had fifteen craft on the water in all, manned by sailors from over North Wales and as far as Cheshire, and together with the challenging weather conditions, an excellent race took place around an extended course off Penmaenmawr”.
