As soggy but enthusiastic day laid on by hardy club volunteers.
Bernard, our Vice President reports: In spite of torrential rain most of the morning & early afternoon, some guests had a go at Sailing on the Picos and a Catamaran that a few of the hardy members got out onto the water. Thanks to Mark & the members who came down at 9.am (including a couple of the juniors) to assist in putting up the new club marquee, a good buy at the price. They just managed to get the roof section on before another massive downpour came down. Upstairs Sue, Katie, Dee, Gwen Llanfairfechan and Liz were selling hot dogs & Burgers etc to all the hardy guests people that turned up.
Downstairs in the Marquee Harriet (17 yesterday) & friend selling cakes etc. Jash and Myself selling raffle tickets and organising guest participants, Alma selling xmas cards !! Last but not least Gerry sat out in the Guard boat getting a heavy shower every few minutes (he forgot his shower Gel!). In case I have missed anyone, well done to all the members who turned up in such atrocious conditions.
Thanks to all – Bernard.
As reported in the Weekly News, with photos from Gerry:- Penmaenmawr Sailing Clubs’ annual Water Festival on Saturday the 27th of August was officially opened by the Mayor of Penmaenmawr Cllr Vivienne Mooney. Sailors and non sailors braved the rain and the windy conditions to sail various club yachts. On land, visitors enjoyed various raffles, stalls and refreshments. Club Commodore Gerry Frobisher who manned the safety boat for the day said “The event is hosted by members of the Club as a way of introducing non-sailors and thrill seekers to a day of sailing supervised by experienced sailors. The wind conditions were excellent and we had to bare the showers but we entertained almost twenty-five non members to four hours of sailing. I would like to thanks the club Sailors and the land crew for they did on the day to make it such a fantastic day”.
