The sailing season takes off at the Easter weekend, with a working party day on Saturday 20th April and if the masts are up and weather permitting some sailing on the Sunday and or Monday. Either way come down to see what’s happening, to give a hand, get your boat wet or for coffee and a chat. Happy Easter!
Penmaenmawr Sailing Club, with the help of Festival Fireworks of Wrexham, staged their annual firework display on the promenade on Saturday the 11th of November attended by Penmaenmawr Deputy Mayor Cllr Una Abbott.
Club Secretary Craig Petch said “Everything went to plan. We started with a good bonfire and catered for over 700 people who attended the club’s hour and a half long event”.
Club Commodore Gerry Frobisher said “We were lucky this year with the weather conditions and were able to provide a great Firework Display sponsored by Penmaenmawr Town Council. I would like to thank those who volunteered their time during the day and evening setting everything up and making it such a good event, including the 11 Young Dragons/Dreigiau Ifanc volunteers who gave up their Saturday to prepare for, and marshal the event”.
Penmaenmawr Sailing Club held one of their season long “Series” of Club races with a race taking place on Sunday the 9th of September. Five craft with 6 sailors took part in the race around a course in the bay off Penmaenmawr in a challenging brisk wind and a heavy swell.

Patrol Boat was manned by Mike and Artie Moss, and the Race Officers were Hilary Moss, Bernard Carter and Gerry Frobisher.
Penmaenmawr Sailing Club hosted a Macmillan “Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning” at the club house on the promenade on Saturday the 8th of September from 10am to noon. Over sixty people attended the event and £280.00 was raised for MacMillan Cancer care.

On Sunday 20th May the Surf Live Saving Association Wales Team (SLSA Wales Team) were at Penmaenmawr Sailing Club together with the Conwy Borough Council Outdoor Activity Development Officer, Roger Pierce, hosted awareness and life saving techniques using safety boats and surf boards. The fifteen young people and parents who attended, were shown and allowed to take part in a number of lifesaving practical scenarios on the beach and in the sea off Penmaenmawr. Continue Reading →
