We try to keep rules and regulations to a minimum - after all, we're here to enjoy ourselves, but in the interests of safety:
- Buoyancy aids must be worn at all times on the water.
- Wearing a wetsuit/drysuit is strongly advised throughout the year.
- We advise not to go out unless there are other boats or safety boats about.
- If you capsize or get into difficulties, stay with your boat.
- Take great care when launching and retrieving - the waves can be dangerous.
- If sailing offshore, it is advisable to carry the following (particularly if there is no guard boat on duty) - anchor & 150ft of warp, flares, first-aid kit, compass, strong closing knife, bottled water.
- For juniors we insist that a wetsuit/drysuit is worn, and a helmet when required. Juniors must not go out unless there are adult members and/or a guard boat on the water, and should get help with taking boats off the racks and returning them.
Please remember that anyone taking to the water accepts full responsibility for his/her own safety, and must be sure that they and their boat can cope with the conditions and be ready to anticipate change in conditions which can happen very quickly.
