2014 Trophy Winners

PSC Dinner and Awards 2014Commodores Report: Penmaenmawr Sailing Club celebrated another great season of sailing at their Annual Awards Dinner and Prize Giving at The Hayloft Restaurant at The Bodnant Welsh Foods Centre.

Club Commodore Gerry Frobisher MBE, Club Secretary Glenn Williams and Junior Captain Ieuan Williams made the presentations of trophies, awards and thank you gifts.

The Commodore Gerry Frobisher MBE welcomed Club President Brian Butterworth to event, made several individual thanks to members and reminded those present of some of the highlights of the season before presenting the sailing awards to the Winners, which consisted of :-

The Tall Race: Simon Burnell and Mark Knight

The Tally Race Ladies Cup: Alice Frobisher and Kristy Carlisle

The Puffin Race: Peter Lewis and Carol Pye

The RNLI Cup: Mark Knight and Sean Smith

The Puffin P1000: Glenn Williams and Ieuan Williams

The Endeavour Award: Dylan Williams (Youngest sailor to have entered and completed the 18 mile, 4 hour race)

Bart’s Bash Winner: Ieuan Williams

Bart’s Bash Ladies Cup: Laura Titheridge

Commodores Trophy: Alice Frobisher (Overall 2014 Ladies Winner)

Welsh Yachting Festival Silver Winners Trophy: Ieuan Williams

Jackie Davies 2014 Club Series Winner: Glenn Williams and Ieuan Williams

The Junior Captain Ieuan Williams took the mic and presented the Junior Awards –

Junior Gold Cup: Dylan Williams (Over six races)

Mac Williams Trophy for Most Improved Junior: Dan Blair

The Butterworth Cup (Junior Endeavour): George Weis

And gave thanks to Calvin Kopec, George Moss, Dai Moss, Arty Moss and Sion Smith, the Junior Mentoring and Coaching Support.Juniors Mentoring Support

The Lead Hat (for best capsize) went to Mark Knight.

Merit Mug for Services to the Club to Doug Blair;

And giving thanks and gifts to Paul Singleton and Jim, and mark Butterworth for their work in staging this year’s Community Bonfire and Fireworks Spectacular; and to Bryan Wilcock for his work on the yearly Club Handbook and the web site. Bonfire Thanks

Vice President Bernard Carter presented The Bernard Carter Silver Plate for Outstanding Service to the Club to Mike Moss.

Bernard Carter also praised the work throughout the season of Brian Butterworth, Gerry Frobisher, Glenn Williams, Mark Stafford, Craig Petch, Peter Lewis, Phil Mack, Hillary Moss, Sue Petch, Helen Blair, Helen Gregson, Amanda Titheridge, Lucy Weis, Laura Titheridge, Louise Weis and Mandy Williams who all received small gifts.Ladies Thanks

The Commodore, Gerry Frobisher, added “I want to thank all the officers and members of Penmaenmawr Sailing Club for their commitment and ongoing support to the Club throughout the season. I must also thank Penmaenmawr Town council for their support of the Community Bonfire and Fireworks Spectacular staged by the Club which would not have been such a success without the commitment of all the volunteers including the 17 strong team of North wales young Dragons/Dreigiau Ifanc Gogledd Cymru, who gave up their Saturday to prepare the club, build the bonfire, marshal, collect donations and help man the various stalls”.
