Press Release: Penmaenmawr Sailing Club’s Hobie Cat two day weekend was a resounding success. Thirty one young people and adult sailors took up the challenge to learn to sail and race Hobie Cat “Twixxy” catamarans under the expert guidance of coaches from the British Hobie Cat Class Association (BHCCA).
Club Secretary Glenn Williams said “The weather and wind conditions on both Saturday and Sunday were just outstanding. It couldn’t have been better. The six Hobie Twixxy crafts crewed by the adults and youngsters were out on the water for almost six hours each day. We had sailors from the age of six up to adult and all expertly coached by members of the BHCCA. The whole experience was awesome”.
Gerry Frobisher, the Clubs Fundraising Officer said “Even at £25 per person for a days coaching and sailing, the take-up for the challenge was extraordinary with thirty one people sailing over the two days. It was such an exciting weekend of sailing for everyone, even the volunteers on dry land. What Penmaenmawr Sailing Club now want to do, is to look into the possibility of a British Hobie Cat Class Association fleet in North Wales”.
